STRAWBERRY JAM CINNAMON CAKE - https://judiljonesshow.com/

Cook:40-45 minutes

Makes two standard sized square cakes


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry jam
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon applesauce (Mott’s no sugar added)


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • I used softened butter to prepare my pans
  • In a large mixing bowl whisk together eggs, shortening and buttermilk
  • Slowly add sugar whisking until all is combined
  • Whisk in applesauce and jam
  • In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and baking soda
  • Slowly add dry mixture to egg mixture
  • Whisk or stir until smooth
  • Spoon batter evenly into the prepared pans
  • Once cooled you can spread jam over the cakes
