Currently, the program is in one soup kitchen on Long Island NY. My goal is to secure local, regional and national sponsors to offer the program in schools, prisons, churches, veterans facilities and other soup kitchens.
The brown bag includes homemade sandwiches, a homemade sweet, a fruit and water. My lunch maybe the only meal one gets that whole day. Therefore, I want the client to feel full once he has eaten from the brown bag. I want him to eat nutritious food that is good for his body to promote good health and energy. The bag will always contain fruits as they are full of vitamins and minerals. Water is also included to encourage drinking it and to discourage sodas and fruit drinks which can be full of unpronounceable ingredients.
Since my last posts, I am joyful to report that my efforts at getting the logo trademarked and registered with the USPTO is paying off. The process is in its final stages. I just have to move through a 30 day review process. Once passed, this will assist in the logo not being stolen or used by others fraudulently. I am hoping to garner local, regional, national and international sponors.
I have also been in continual contact with my marketing director who has updated the packaging. This will assist clients and sponors in better understanding the mission behind the program and what exactly is included in the brown bags.
JUNE 2026:
1-The logo LOVE IN A BROWN BAG is now REGISTERED with the USPO. I can now display the R after the logo.
2-The logo and the program’s mission have been imprinted on the brown bags. This makes it easier for the client to see what he is getting and I no longer have to write it on the bags.
3-I have extended the program to better give women a chance to feel honored and dignified. I felt that homeless women often do not get the toiletries they need to survive ‘out there.’ I purchase items I think they would want and need.
