DATES:A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE TO EMPTY CARBOHYDRATES

EAT DATES OVER AN EMPTY CARBOHYDRATE
In the middle of the night, during the madness of a menstrual cycle or the chaotic games estrogen and progesterone play with each other with menopause, a sweet craving rises in you so badly that you either raid the refrigerator or take the chance of going to an all-night market to grab that expensive candy bar or pint of decadent chocolate ice cream. Expensive not only in price but in the empty calories they will add to your gut, thighs and butt. In preparation for what you know is coming, keep a box of dates in the pantry.
Dates are naturally sweet and are known for their high fiber, potassium and vitamin B6 content. Therefore, they help improve your heart, digestion and brain health.
I eat them raw, right out of the package. I enjoy the MEDJOOL PIT FREE DATES. But I’ve also baked with them, adding a date or two or three to my pastries. When adding dates to a recipe, since they are naturally sweet, please consider lessening the sugar amount the recipe requires.
However, with anything, food, drink that tastes good to you, please eat dates in moderation. One serving size can equal two-three dates which amount to 110 calories. If you eat them mindlessly, then you can easily turn what’s supposed to be a snack into a full course 400-500 calorie meal. Yikes!
EAT CLEAN. LIVE BETTER.
